Ohio State Football: Ryan Day’s son earns a scholarship offer
The Ohio State football team might need to look pretty close for its next quarterback as RJ Day has earned a big-time offer.
The Ohio State football program is in a great spot right now recruiting-wise. Ryan Day is often able to hand-pick his quarterback selections fairly easily as he has a reputation as one of the best developers in all of football. That seems to be rubbing off on his son, RJ Day, as he picked up a power five conference scholarship offer last week.
RJ Day was offered a scholarship from Boston College, where Ryan Day had previously worked as an offensive coordinator. It also helps that Day knows the head coach pretty well, Jeff Haffley, who worked with Day with the San Fransisco 49ers and who Day had tabbed to become his first defensive coordinator in 2019.
Day actually doesn’t have much football experience, but he’s been a mainstay at Ohio State camps and competes often in 7 v 7 tournaments. He is a freshman this season at Columbus St. Francis DeSales High School. RJ made his high school debut earlier this week when he led the Stallions to a 21-17 thrilling win on Friday night, throwing a game-winning touchdown over Tri-Valley with under a minute to play.
Now that RJ Day has one major offer under his belt, it’s likely that he will start to see more in the upcoming months. And if he progresses to the level of being a top-200 recruit for the 2027 class, will Ryan Day want to tab him as his next quarterback at Ohio State? It will be fascinating to see how it all plays out with RJ and we wish him nothing but success at the high school level.
