Ohio State Football: Two Buckeyes on Biletnikoff Award Watchlist
Two of the Ohio State football team’s best receivers have been listed on the Biletnikoff Award Watchlist. This is not surprising, as Coach Brian Hartline has coached up his receiving room to be one of the best in the country. Today we will be looking at the two receivers who were named to the list.
Those two are Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. This should come not as a surprise to many. Both receivers had stellar seasons, with both eclipsing the coveted 1,000-yard receiving yard mark.
Marvin Harrison Jr had one of the best seasons in Ohio State’s long history. With over 1,200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, he helped take the Ohio State football team to the College Football Playoff. While his rise to stardom was a surprise to some, others saw the potential.
In the Rose Bowl against a high-ranked Utah, Harrison had 71 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He exploded onto the scene and caught everyone’s attention with how gifted he was, just like his father was, he is a great receiver. He was also listed as one of the best players in the Big Ten.
In all honesty, Marvin Harrison Jr should be looking for his second Biletnikoff Award after last year’s award was rewarded to Jalin Hyatt of Tennessee. Nevertheless, Harrison Jr. gets the chance to prove the voters wrong.
Egbuka quietly had one of the best seasons in the country. He had 1,151 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns to his name. He and Harrison Jr. make a great Batman and Robin-like duo. It truly can be a nightmare to guard either one of these players, it doesn’t help when they are on the same team.
Egbuka is seen as a first-round draft pick in his own right. Many project him to be the second wide receiver off the board next spring. Marvin Harrison Jr is projected to be a top-3 NFL Draft pick.
Emeka Egbuka was a huge recruiting victory when he was a senior in high school. He is from Steilacoom, Washington. Many programs were heavily recruiting him, as he was a five-star talent. The Buckeyes were able to land his commitment, and fans will cherish what will most likely be his final season as a Buckeye before he heads to the pros.
Marvin Harrison Jr was a four-star talent out of Philadelphia, committed early in the process, and was locked in the whole time.
This will be the best receiving room in the country. I think it is far and away better than any other program’s room. With a great position coach in Brian Hartline and a great offensive mind in Ryan Day, Ohio State’s receivers will not be in question this season.
With Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka leading the way, it is hard to see the room struggling. It makes sense for Harrison Jr to be the clubhouse leader for the 2023 Biletnikoff Award. With both receivers preparing for their professional careers, Buckeye fans will appreciate them for this upcoming season.
The first game of the season is approaching fast, as on Saturday, September 2nd, the world-famous Ohio State football team will travel and play against the Indiana Hoosiers.
