Ohio State football Hall of Famer No. 5: WR Paul Warfield

Another receiver makes the list. Paul Warfield played receiver in the NFL, but mostly played running back and defensive back while playing under Woody Hayes. He made First-Team All-Big Ten in back-to-back seasons in 1962 and 1963 as a running back and was a First-Team All-American in 1963.

Warfield is yet another Buckeye to play for the Browns. He was drafted by them with the 11th pick in 1964 and moved to receiver. That’s the position that he excelled at. He would go on to modernize the position in the NFL and put up some big numbers.

Warfield made the Pro Bowl eight times over his career. He also made two First-Team All-Pro teams and three Second-Team All-Pro teams. Warfield also led the NFL in touchdown catches twice. He was named to the 1970s All-Decade Team and the NFL’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team.

Not only did he excel as an individual, but Warfield helped his team succeed at the highest level as well. He won back-to-back Super Bowls while playing for the Dolphins. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and was a member of that undefeated 1927 Dolphins team.

The next player on this list is someone that most younger people remember being a coach instead of a player, but he was a good player too.
