Notre Dame fans have recently been worried that Ohio State Football fans will take over their stadium when the two teams play in Week 3. After Ohio State beat the Fighting Irish last year in the Shoe, they complete the home-and-home series with a trip to South Bend.

Is this something Notre Dame fans should be worried about? Of course it is! But then again, every team that the Ohio State Football team played should be worried about this. Every game is a fan takeover. There are Buckeye fans all across the country.

This is especially true in the state of Indiana. Not only are there a lot of Buckeye fans that live there (or in my case, from there and then moved), but it’s an easy drive from Ohio. Even South Bend isn’t that tough to get to from Columbus despite it being two and a half hours from Indianapolis.

Every time the Buckeyes play at Indiana or at Purdue, it’s mostly Ohio State fans in the stands. Purdue usually does a little better job of keeping Buckeye fans out, but it’s still usually 55/45 in favor of Ohio State fans in that stadium. The opener at IU this year will probably be worse.

So yes, Notre Dame fans should be worried about this. But it’s an issue that Big Ten teams have had to deal with for years. They won’t have as big of a home field advantage as they want. In my opinion, it doesn’t really matter anyway. Ohio State is the better team.

We’ll see what happens when September 23rd rolls around. I’ll be interested to see how many Ohio State Football fans make the journey over and watch the team play. It very well might end up being a home game for the Buckeyes.
