Today is the first day of July. For Ohio State football fans, it’s the first month when we start to learn some stuff about the upcoming team. We start learning who is getting reps with the first team as the Fall approaches. We learn who the starters could be.

This is also the month that we learn who is going to make the preseason All-America teams. There are plenty of Buckeyes who should be named to those teams, including two receivers. What I’m most interested in learning is whether or not they will have any defensive players make it.

Besides the All-America teams, we also start getting an idea of who could be on the preseason polls. We find out who the Buckeyes’ toughest opponents will be, although we already have a pretty good idea of that. TTUN is going to be the toughest game they play this season, period.

I don’t know how highly Notre Dame or Penn State will be ranked heading into the season but it’s a pretty safe bet that both will be in the top 20. In my opinion, I think Penn State will be the second-highest-rated team that the Ohio State football team will face in the regular season.

July is the first month that I really start to feel that college football is right around the corner. This is the month when I start to get fired up about the upcoming season. I’m sure other Ohio State football fans feel the same once this month rolls around as well.
