The Ohio State football team is doing everything it can to improve the secondary on the recruiting trail. They very well could add a trio of corners in this next recruiting class. Now at least they have gotten a commitment on the back end, which is something they need.

Four-star safety Jaylen McClain has made a commitment to the Buckeyes on Monday evening. He becomes the 14th member of the 2024 recruiting class. He stands at 6 feet and weighs 185 pounds, which isn’t too bad of size for a safety. His speed helps him.

His speed and his length allow him to cover the field and do good things in coverage. That’s something that the Buckeyes need. He is someone that can play all three safety spots as well because he can come down and help in the run game as well as cover in the passing game.

If there’s one thing the Ohio State football team needs, it’s versatile safeties. The Buckeyes need as much help in the secondary as they can get based on the play they’ve seen from that area of the defense in the last few years. McClain is someone who can help with that.

This is just the first of the commitments that the Buckeyes will have this Summer during camp season. The Buckeyes have been hosting a camp all week. They’ll host another one later in the Summer that should result in more recruits committing as well.

McClain becomes the first member of the recruiting class from the secondary. That won’t last that long. They will be adding more help soon. Expect this class to be heavy with players from the secondary. We know that’s the biggest area of need on the roster.

Next. These recruits are turning heads at OSU camp. dark

We’ll let you know once more commitments happen!
