Ohio State Football: Buckeyes predicted to get four-star TE
By Ryan Stano
It’s the start of camp season in college football, which means that it’s also recruiting commitment season. Recruits will start to make decisions on where they want to play in the Fall. The Ohio State football program is gearing up for that and has gotten a prediction to land a tight end.
That tight end is Damarion Witten. Witten is out of Cleveland Glenville High School, which has produced a ton of great talent in the past. Witten is a four-star prospect and recently cut down his list to just five schools, with Ohio State obviously being included.
Witten stands at 6’4 and 215 pounds. He is rated as the 23rd-best tight end in the country. Witten will officially visit the Ohio State football program in a couple of weeks. That very well could be when he officially commits because he is projected to pick the Buckeyes.
If the Buckeyes do land Witten, he would be the second tight end in the 2024 recruiting class for them. Ohio State doesn’t use the tight end often in the passing game, so bringing two of them in the same recruiting class would be interesting.
Looking at Witten’s film, he seems to have decent hands and a good catch radius. He seems to be a pretty good blocker as well. I would expect those skills to only get enhanced if he chooses Ohio State. He just needs some coaching to get a little more refined, as well as put on a bit more muscle.
Right now, the Buckeyes have the fourth-best recruiting class in the country. They only have 13 commits, so they have room to improve that ranking. Adding Witten would obviously help them with that. They are about to get a lot more help too on the defensive end.
We will keep you aware of any commitments once they happen as always!
