Ohio State Football has number one recruiting class in 2024
By Ryan Stano
Remember when I asked if Ohio State football fans should be worried about recruiting? Good times! We knew that the Buckeyes were going to get some more recruits during the Spring Game, but I wasn’t sure if that would raise their recruiting ranking this much.
After those commitments, the Buckeyes now have the number one class in the country for the 2024 class. Ohio State has 12 members in its class right now with two five-stars and eight four-stars. They currently sit ahead of Georgia and Michigan for that top spot.
It’s definitely not time to celebrate yet. It’s still just Spring and the Buckeyes have a lot more work to do in their class. They still have to get more commitments from the defensive side of the ball to really round this class out and make it more balanced.
Other schools still have time to do work on their classes as well. If the Ohio State football program wants to claim that ever-elusive recruiting national championship, they will have to keep hitting the trail hard this Summer when a lot of visits will be made to camps.
Now that Spring practices around the country are winding down, commitments will slow down a bit until those camps in the Summer roll around. That’s a time when you can expect more prospects to want to be future Buckeyes. Early Fall is important too.
The early signing period has taken a lot of the luster away from winter recruiting. Now, most prospects have committed by the end of the college football regular season or by mid-December. If Ohio State still has the top-rated class by then, you can celebrate.
Elite recruiting is what helps teams win championships. This is a good step in doing that for the future of this Ohio State football program.
