The Ohio State football team just landed a pair of offensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting class earlier this week. That brings their commitment total for that class to six. They are now ranked 7th in the country in terms of the 2024 recruiting class right now.

Top-ten isn’t bad, right? Most programs would kill for that! Well, not Ohio State. The Buckeyes haven’t been outside the top five in recruiting since 2019. That was the class that was transitioning from Urban Meyer to Ryan Day. Seventh would be a big step down.

What makes matters worse is that they don’t even have the highest-rated class in the conference right now. That belongs to TTUN, who just landed a five-star quarterback today. They have the third-best class in the country. So should Ohio State football fans be concerned with recruiting right now?

At this juncture, I would say maybe. It’s still very early in the cycle and Ohio State can still land some really good prospects. They also have several guys who are crystal-balled to go to Ohio State. They very well could end up having a top-five class still.

It is concerning that they sit behind TTUN right now. Harbaugh has his program riding high with momentum off of back-to-back Big Ten Titles and CFP appearances. They are no longer in the big hole that the Buckeyes stuffed them in for the last 20 years.

This is something to monitor over the next couple of months. Summer is a huge time for recruits. If the Buckeyes get some commitments then, then all will be fine. I’d still like to see them get another five-star guy. We’ll see if they are able to land some more.

Next. Ryan Day still behind OSU predecessors. dark

Don’t panic until October. If the Buckeyes still don’t have a top-five class by then, something very wrong has happened.
