The Ohio State football team will be holding its annual Spring Game on Saturday afternoon. It will be the first time that the Buckeyes have played a semi-real game this season. We’ll be watching plenty of different players this weekend during the game.

Of all of the players that play in the Spring Game every year, one player always steps up and is known as the Spring Game hero. A couple of years ago, it was Jack Sawyer after his three-sack performance. For three straight years, it was Michael Thomas.

Who could possibly be that Spring Game hero this year? There are a few candidates on both sides of the ball. One of them on defense is Sonny Styles. Styles is someone who is poised to break out with some playing time if he can get it this year. He’s a really good player just waiting for more time on the field.

Another player on defense that could be the hero is J.T. Tuimoloau. Depending on what tackle he goes up against on Saturday, he could have a big game. He has already established that he’s a really good player though, especially after that great game against Penn State last year.

On the offensive side of the ball, I’m looking at Dallan Hayden. Hayden is someone who has performed well so far in Spring practice. He needs to if he’s going to get some actual playing time this year with all of the running backs that are now healthy.

One other possible candidate on offense is Joe Royer. Royer had some good moments in last year’s Spring Game. Other than Cade Stover, the Ohio State football team doesn’t have any other proven threats at the tight end position. Perhaps Royer could provide that threat.
