Three best players Ohio State Football will face next year
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team does not have an easy schedule in 2023. It’s actually one of the hardest schedules that anyone in the country has to play. Despite this, they will likely be favored in every game they play except for maybe the finale against TTUN in Ann Arbor.
That’s because the Buckeyes have some great players too. They don’t leave the cupboard too bare heading into next season. They get all of their skill guys back for next year and should actually have a fully-healthy stable of running backs, unlike last season.
Ohio State will still be facing some darn good players next year. There are three players that I’ve identified from different teams that will be the best guys they face in the regular season. I didn’t want to take multiple players from the same team, so I grabbed three guys from different rosters.
All of these guys are difference-makers on their respective squads. They are someone that the Buckeyes will have to gameplan for once they face them in the Fall. If they don’t properly contain them, it could be a long day for the Buckeyes and it would lead to a much harder path to victory.
The first player on this list is a quarterback that got an opportunity to play late last year and should be really good this year.
The Ohio State football team needs to stop Drew Allar.
Drew Allar is an Ohio guy that decided to play somewhere other than for the Ohio State football team because of the quality amount of quarterbacks they already had on their roster. Instead, Allar decided to play for a Big Ten rival in Penn State.
Allar has an immense amount of talent. He was a five-star prospect coming out of high school and was a freshman last season with the Nittany Lions. Because he was sitting behind Sean Clifford, he didn’t get a chance to play that much until the end of the year.
Allar got in after some Clifford injuries and showed the kind of potential he has. He finished the year with 344 yards and 4 touchdowns. Better than that is the fact that he had no turnovers. He also ran for a touchdown this year too. He was able to play a little bit in a lot of their games, but not consistently until later in the year.
The reason why Allar is on this list is because of his high school tape. He has a really strong arm and can put the ball in some tight windows. He’s an accurate guy that can also move around a bit if he has to. Allar is someone Ohio State is going to have to keep in check all game long.
Ohio State’s secondary was suspect against Penn State a year ago, but a superhuman effort by J.T. Tuimoloau was able to keep them in the winner’s circle. I’m worried about the defensive backs again next year when these two teams face off.
The next player on this list is someone Ohio State was able to bottle up last year, but who got stronger as the year went on.
