While the men’s team is a complete disaster, the Ohio State Women’s Basketball team was able to get back on track Thursday with a win at Penn State. They won the game 67-55 and get back on track after getting blown out by IU their last time out on the court.

Cotie McMahon led the way for the Buckeyes with 17 points on 8/12 shooting. She also had 11 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. It was impressive to have the Buckeyes win this game because they got a bad shooting game from their best player in this one.

That would be Taylor Mikeseel, who had just 9 points on 3/12 shooting. She also had four turnovers too. The Buckeyes as a whole had 22 turnovers, which is quite a lot for them. They actually only forced 16 and shot just 55.6% from the free-throw line.

What made the difference for them was rebounding and making threes. The Ohio State women’s basketball team had four more rebounds than Penn State and made five more three-pointers. That ended up making the difference in the Buckeyes’ 12-point victory.

Ohio State has been in a bit of a funk lately after starting the season 19-0, which is a program record. They then lost three straight games and followed that up with blowout losses to Maryland and IU. This was a get-right game for the lady Buckeyes that they needed to capitalize on.

The Buckeyes finish their regular season off with two more ranked opponents. They play at 12-ranked Michigan and then finish off at home vs. 8th-ranked Maryland. Both will be tough games, although Ohio State did beat TTUN earlier in the season at home.

If Ohio State can win both of those games and do well in the Big Ten Tournament, they have a chance at getting a number-one seed in the NCAA Tournament.
