We all know that the Ohio State football program has plenty of representatives in the NFL. Ohio State produces some of the best players in the entire league. Yet, there was only one Buckeye who played in the Super Bowl last night between the Eagles and the Chiefs.

That player was running back Trey Sermon, who didn’t get into the game for Philadelphia. His team also ended up losing the game 38-35, so there were no Buckeyes who got a Super Bowl ring this year. This is a very rare occurrence for a program that has so many notable alumni.

Odds are that the Ohio State football program will have at least one alumnus get a ring next year. Some of the best teams in the league are the Chiefs, Bengals, 49ers, Eagles, and Chargers just to name a few. All but Kansas City have a Buckeye on their roster.

Even though a Buckeye wasn’t able to get a ring, there were still plenty of great performances from Buckeyes in the NFL this season. We highlighted a couple of players who won some awards after having great seasons. That should continue into next year too.

There will also be some intriguing rookies that will come into the league soon as well. C.J. Stroud will soon become the face of a franchise in late April once he becomes either the first or second quarterback off the board. Paris Johnson Jr. will be a franchise left tackle for someone too.

The future, much like the present, is bright for all of the Buckeyes in and around the NFL. This time next year, I bet we’ll be talking about a Buckeye or two winning a Super Bowl ring for themselves.
