Ohio State Football: Road games define Buckeyes next season
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is already looking toward next season. They have one of the toughest schedules in the country. That’s mainly because they have some of the hardest road games to play of anyone in the country. Road games will define the season.
After playing some relatively easy games at home to start off the year, the Buckeyes have to travel to South Bend to take on Notre Dame. While Notre Dame had a tough year in 2022, they should be better in year two under Marcus Freeman. Although, they did just lose offensive coordinator Tommy Rees to Alabama.
Ohio State also has some hard road games once conference play starts. They have to travel to Camp Randall and play Wisconsin, which is now being led by Luke Fickell. Fickell will definitely want to beat his alma mater and his players will play harder for that game than any other game in 2023.
The biggest away game is of course the final game of the season when they head up to Ann Arbor to take on TTUN. The Ohio State football team is trying to snap their two-game losing streak to the Wolverines. I can tell you right now that that’s already the biggest game of the year.
If Ohio State is able to win these road games, they have a chance to win a national championship. If they don’t, they’ll be sitting at home as disappointed as they were in 2021. I wonder how a new quarterback is going to be able to deal with all of these road games.
2023 is a crossroads season for a lot of coaches on this staff. If the Buckeyes lose to TTUN once more, everything is on the table in terms of cleaning house. I don’t think it will come to that though.
