Ohio State Football: Buckeyes don’t add anyone on Signing Day

Just a few years ago, National Signing Day was essentially a holiday for college football fans. It was a day full of anticipation and nervousness. This was the day Ohio State football fans kept themselves glued to the TV and computer to make sure they didn’t miss any news.

All of that luster is gone now that the early signing period is a thing. Most prospects sign in December now, leaving Signing Day as anticlimactic. Only a few prospects wait this long to make decisions now. That’s even more clear now that NIL is an option for most of these kids too.

The Buckeyes added no new prospects on National Signing Day. Their Twitter account showed just how quickly the day came and went, announcing at 7 am that it was Signing Day. Just three minutes later, they announced that it was over.

While the Buckeyes didn’t add any prospects on Signing Day, they did get the best guy left in the transfer portal yesterday in cornerback Davison Igbinosun. He transfers in from Ole Miss after having been a Freshman All-American last year for the Rebels.

The Ohio State football team now moves on to Spring ball where they look to improve their team from last year. They will start that up in a few weeks with the Spring game just over two months away. Ryan Day and his staff can now focus on the 2024 recruiting class.
