Ohio State Football might lose top recruit to SEC foe
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program is still trying to get a few 2023 prospects to round out that class. But most of the attention is about to switch to the 2024 class. Ohio State thought they had an epic start to that class as early as a few weeks ago.
That’s because the Buckeyes had the number one and number two overall recruits in the 2024 class committed to them at one point. Unfortunately, that lasted about 48 hours before Dylan Raiola de-committed. Raiola is the number one overall recruit in the class.
It was hypothesized that Raiola had decided to de-commit to join Nebraska. Nebraska has hired his dad to be on staff, so that would have been the logical place for him to go. Now, it seems as though the Buckeyes are going to lose him to an SEC foe.
The Ohio State football team could lose Dylan Raiola to Georiga.
Of all places, Raiola is now predicted to end up at Georgia according to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. This is just after the Bulldogs just won back-to-back national championships. It’s unclear if NIL money is a factor, but you would have to think that Raiola could have gotten that at OSU as well.
This would be a crushing blow for the Buckeyes. To lose the number one recruit is one thing. To lose him to a program that you are chasing makes it worse. It always hurts to lose a quarterback who is as good as Raiola is. Having him in the SEC would be super annoying.
There is still plenty of time for recruiting prospects in this class. It’s just in the infancy of the 2024 recruiting class. Hopefully, the Buckeyes can find themselves a quarterback who ends up being better than Raiola in this class. Ryan Day does recruit quarterbacks pretty darn well.
