We have found out that if you want to succeed in the NFL and you play wide receiver, you should play for the Ohio State football program. Brian Hartline recruits better than any other assistant coach in terms of the sheer amount of talent he brings in and develops them better than anyone else too.

That’s what Hartline did with two Buckeye greats at the wide receiver position. Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave were taken back-to-back in the NFL Draft in April. Both were exceptional when they played for the Buckeyes and deserved to be the top-11 picks that they were.

Unfortunately, neither of them will get their first taste of the NFL postseason as their teams didn’t make it. The Jets were eliminated later than the Saints were. Both of these players are contenders for Offensive Rookie of the Year and made a little history also.

Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson make NFL and Ohio State football history.

Olave and Wilson became the first rookies from the same school to each go for 1,000 yards in their rookie year in NFL history. The NFL has been around for over 100 years and it’s never happened before. That’s pretty special stuff from these two.

Wilson is clearly the best weapon that the Jets have on their team. He opens up the field for everyone else because he gets so much attention on him. He would have had an even better year had he had better quarterbacks throwing him the football.

Olave also had some bad quarterback play this year. He and fellow Buckeye Michael Thomas are primed to be a great receiving duo for a while if Thomas can stay healthy. If I had a vote for the NFL awards, and of course I don’t, Olave would get mine for Offensive Rookie of the Year.

These guys were great at Ohio State and have had a great start to their careers. I can’t wait to see them continue to get even better.
