The Ohio State football team still has a shot to win a national championship. They know it won’t be easy, but they are one of four teams with a shot. Obviously, those are big enough stakes to play for. But winning in the Playoff could do more than help them this season.

Even if the Buckeyes are just able to win their game against Georgia it would still be good for them. It would really help them in the world of recruiting, which is something they need some help with right now, especially after losing the number one overall recruit in 2024.

Ohio State is still trying to close out the 2023 class too. They currently have 20 commits for a class that has fallen all the way to seventh in the country. If they can land some of the five-star recruits that they still have on their radar, they can move up those rankings.

Beating the defending national champs in a College Football Playoff semifinal would certainly help with that. Winning a national championship would further boost their status among recruits as well. But they have to win that first game before they can think that far ahead.

Ryan Day has to balance preparing for this game with recruiting. But make no mistake, he knows that winning the Peach Bowl will help with the recruiting he’s trying to do as well. Winning, along with NIL money help bring in the best recruits in the country.

The Buckeyes are still trying to figure that whole NIL thing out, despite the fact they already should have it figured out. The winning part is something they are very familiar with. A second National Championship Game appearance for Day will certainly help his cause.
