Does Ohio State Football match up with Georgia or TTUN better?
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team will get their shot to play for a national championship now that both USC and TCU have lost. We don’t know where they will be in the final College Football Playoff Rankings, but we do know they will play either Georgia or TTUN.
That begs the question; who should the Buckeyes want to see in round one? Do they want an instant rematch with TTUN? Or should they want to take on the defending national champions in the semifinal? Who does Ohio State have a better chance of beating first?
In my opinion, I think that the Buckeyes should want to take on Michigan in the semifinal. I think this for two reasons. One, I think the Buckeyes know how to play Michigan better. They stopped them well in the first half, the offense just sputtered in the second half.
Secondly, I think if they were to lose a rematch, it would be less painful to do so in the semifinal. Can you imagine the pain of Ohio State losing a national title to TTUN? I don’t even want to think about it. That’s why I think they should want TTUN in the semifinal.
Georgia is also really good on both sides of the ball. They don’t really have a weakness. They can throw the ball well and run it when they need to. Defensively, while they aren’t as good as they were a year ago, they are still very good. Ohio State could struggle with them.
No matter what, the Ohio State football team would likely have to play both of these teams if they want to win a national championship. It’s just a question of who they should want to play first. I think playing TTUN first gives them the best chance to make the National Championship Game.
We’ll find out tomorrow just after noon.
