Three reasons Ohio State football won’t win the National Championship

2. Injuries could derail the Ohio State football team
Injuries can derail any good football team. The Buckeyes have already had to deal with a multitude of them this season. Their best player, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, still hasn’t played a full game this season. That seems like a problem once they play some better opponents.
Smith-Njigba isn’t the only guy who has had injury issues. Jordan Hancock, who was supposed to be Ohio State’s third cornerback, hasn’t played this year. TreVeyon Henderson has missed a game due to an injury. Miyan Williams missed last week because he was hurt. Julian Fleming missed the first two games as well.
If the Ohio State Buckeyes can’t get healthy before they start taking on better competition, that’s a major issue. Even if the Buckeyes are able to beat Penn State and Michigan without their best players, I’m not so sure that they can beat Alabama, Georgia, or Clemson.
I’m also just talking about the injuries the Buckeyes have already suffered. What happens if another key guy gets hurt? God forbid if C.J. Stroud gets hurt. What happens if another couple of receivers go down? This team hasn’t been able to prove that they can stay healthy for an extended period of time.
The final reason why the Buckeyes might not be able to win the National Championship this year is very quite simple: better competition.
