3. The Ohio State football team plays better competition down the stretch
This is something that worries me whether or not the Buckeyes can get healthy. While Ohio State’s schedule hasn’t been as bad as some people think, they have yet to play an elite offense. I want to see how this team plays against someone who can move the ball consistently.
Penn State and Michigan are both good. Michigan’s offense is much better. While I think that the Buckeyes can beat Michigan, it’s no longer the certainty it once was after what happened last year. I low-key had the thought that TTUN would never beat Ohio State again, then they killed them last November.
If the Buckeyes do make the College Football Playoff, they could be taking on any number of good teams. Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, USC, and Tennessee are all contenders to be playing in a semi-final game. All of them have shown at the minimum some sort of offensive burst.
Some of those teams have really good offenses. The simple reason why the Buckeyes might not win it all is because they just simply might not be better than any of these teams. We haven’t seen them take on elite competition yet. We’ll find about a lot more about this concern in a couple of weeks.
As I mentioned, this was the glass-half-empty article. While all of these things are legit concerns, I still think this Ohio State football team is great. I really think they have a chance to win it all. In fact, I think they deserve to be the favorites to do so.
