The Ohio State football team really enjoyed the bye week. They were able to sit at home and get healthy after having issues with injuries all year long. Better than that, they were able to sit back and watch the carnage that happened around the world of college football.

It was a weekend that saw four top-ten teams lose. Alabama, USC, Oklahoma State, and Penn State all lost. Those losses helped give the Buckeyes some room for error down the stretch because it knocked down the number of undefeated teams left.

Ohio State was also able to move up in the polls. They moved up to #2 in both polls behind only Georgia. There are now only seven other undefeated teams that have a chance to make the College Football Playoff. The fewer undefeated teams, the better for the Buckeyes.

If the Ohio State football team were to lose to TTUN at the end of the season, there is now a chance that they can still make the CFP because of all of these losses. It would obviously be easier if they just won that game and won the Big Ten Championship because that would guarantee their spot.

It was nice that the Buckeyes didn’t have to stress this weekend, but they have work to do still. Iowa has one of the best defenses in the country, so we’ll learn just how elite this offense is. I expect that they will still be able to move the ball at will and score a bunch of points.

Ohio State’s margin for error is wider now. Let’s just hope that they don’t need to use it.
