The Ohio State football team cruised to a victory over the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday. The Buckeyes continued to show everyone they are one of the best teams in the country. In the game, quarterback C.J. Stroud added to his Heisman campaign with another outstanding performance, and it took just three quarters of play.

Stroud completed 21 of 26 passes for 361 yards in the win yesterday, and he also threw for six touchdowns. The fact that he put up these numbers is ridiculous as it is, but to do it in three quarters is out of this world.

With Stroud’s six touchdown passes yesterday, he passed Justin Fields for second place in career passing touchdowns at Ohio State. He now is sitting behind J.T. Barrett with 104 passing touchdowns. Stroud would need to throw 41 more touchdown passes this season to break Barrett’s record. So far he has thrown 24 touchdown passes through six games, which leads all of college football.

That wasn’t the only record Stroud set or tied with his six-touchdown night in East Lansing. In the third quarter when Stroud threw his fifth touchdown pass of the night to Marvin Harrison Jr., he claimed the Big Ten record for five-touchdown games with eight.

Then on his sixth touchdown of the night, he became the first Buckeye and the first player in Big Ten history to throw six touchdown passes in three different games. Stroud did it last year against Michigan State, the Rose Bowl game versus Utah, and Michigan State again last night.

Stroud has been playing tremendously all season long, all without his favorite target as well. Through six weeks he is without a doubt the Heisman frontrunner. For how quick Stroud can put up large numbers with this offense, he will be a tough horse to catch in this Heisman race.

Next. Buckeyes' form of winning is scary for college football. dark

The Ohio State football team is on their bye week and will be back in Week 8 where Stroud and company welcome the Iowa Hawkeyes to Columbus. Hopefully, the bye week allows them to get healthy. Stroud can put up even more absurd numbers with a fully healthy offense.
