If you stayed up to watch the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Colts and the Broncos, I salute you. I only stayed up because I’m a Colts fan. It may have been the ugliest game of pro football I’ve ever watched. One former Ohio State football player made it watchable though.

That former Buckeye is Baron Browning. Browning is a linebacker for the Broncos and was taken in the third round of the 2021 Draft. He was taken after he had a really solid 2020 season for the Buckeyes, which was the only season he was used semi-properly.

After what Browning did to the Colts on Thursday night, it’s clear that he was badly misused by the Ohio State football program the entire time he was in Columbus. Browning had 5 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. He also had a whopping 6 QB hits.

Browning only had 7 sacks the entire time he was with the Buckeyes. Bill Davis was a terrible linebackers coach and Browning’s success in the NFL proves it. Al Washington had him for two years as well and didn’t use him right in 2019. Only in 2020 was Browning able to show what he could do.

It was frustrating for a lot of Buckeye fans to see as well.

Urban Meyer did not do the best job of putting together a defensive staff either. That defense is what prevented Ohio State from winning a title in 2013 and 2018. It was frustrating to watch someone who clearly had so much talent not be used properly and now show what he can do when he is used the right way.

Either way, it’s good to see Browning playing so well at the next level. I’ll be rooting for him his entire career. Hopefully, the injury he suffered in this game isn’t too serious and he can get right back on the field.
