No 1.) Cade Stover, TE

This tight end turned linebacker turned tight end again has certainly been one of the biggest surprises on this Ohio State roster so far this season. I think it’s safe to say that we all thought Cade Stover was brought over on the offensive side of the ball for his physicality in the run game.

And he has been an excellent blocker for the Buckeye offense so far but his pass-catching abilities have been a massive surprise. With 12 receptions on the season for 188 yards and two touchdowns, Stover has emerged as one of Stroud’s favorite targets.

I think it’s safe to say that those are the stats that I expected Stover to have for the entire season, not just through four games.

His hands have been exceptionally good as he consistently has made tough catches in traffic or over the middle of the field. If Stover can keep this production up, he’s set to have bigger numbers than last year’s third-round draft choice of the New York Jets and former Buckeye Jeremy Ruckert had a season ago.

Stover has been my biggest surprise of the season thus far. If he keeps playing this way, this offense becomes almost completely unstoppable. He is doing what he is asked and is excelling at it. Hopefully, he keeps doing what he’s doing for the rest of the season.
