In less than 24 hours, the Ohio State football team will take the Shoe again to face Arkansas State. It is the second game at the start of a five-game homestand to start the season. This game will be a little easier than last week’s game considering the Red Wolves aren’t a top-five team.
Arkansas State is here to collect a paycheck and that’s all. They know that they have no chance in this game. This game is really just a chance for Ohio State to get their groove back on offense and put up some gaudy stats and then get some playing time for the younger guys.
This game shouldn’t be competitive at really any point. I expect the Buckeyes to be able to put up a lot more passing yards than they did last week. I’d actually be surprised if C.J. Stroud didn’t throw for at least 300 yards before he gets pulled in the second half.
He should be able to do that even if his best weapon doesn’t play. Jaxon Smith-Njigba hasn’t been ruled out as of yet, but he might sit out this game as a precaution to rest that hamstring. Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr. should continue to get the lion’s share of the passes if that’s the case.
I’d like to see TreVeyon Henderson have a better game as well. I think he has a chance to break off a couple of long runs in this game. The offensive line should be able to control the line of scrimmage from the first snap and never stop doing it.
Prediction: Ohio State football 51 Arkansas State 10
I don’t think Ohio State covers because they will put in some backups on defense and probably give up some garbage points at the end of the game. The backups on offense also won’t be able to score as quickly as the starters. A 41-point victory is still quite a feat.
It will be interesting to see how quickly the offense can get back on track in this game. I’d expect them to right away.
