The Ohio State football team had to replace two starters on the offensive line from last year and moved another starter to a different position. That’s a lot of change to happen in an offseason. Next year, there will be even more change to the offensive line as they could lose four of their five starters.

There really isn’t a question about how good the starting five up front are this year. The real question is how much depth they have behind those guys. We might start to find out this week if Luke Wypler ends up not being able to go against Arkansas State.

Wypler left the stadium in a walking boot on Saturday night. While he is expected to play as of now, there’s still a chance the Buckeyes hold him out. That would mean Matt Jones would shift to center and Enokk Vimahi would slide in at the right guard position.

Vimahi has the trust of the staff for the Buckeyes, but it would be interesting to see him play with the 1’s. He’s probably going to get a chance to play in this game anyway because it should get out of hand in the second half. The bottom line is that the backups need reps in this game.

These are the types of games where they can develop depth. If the Buckeyes were to face another injury on the offensive line, they can trust these guys more in a big spot since they’ve gotten snaps. Vimahi’s trust would increase if he does have to start on Saturday.

We’ll see what the starting unit ends up looking like up front. I’m sure the Buckeyes have a plan for every possibility. It’s not like they are in danger of losing this game either. It should be an easy game.
