Do you remember the 2015 Ohio State football season? Of course you do. It was the year that the Buckeyes should have repeated as national champions, but instead they played quarterback musical chairs with J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones and ended up missing the College Football Playoff.

It was the most frustrating season of Ohio State football I’ve seen until the refs screwed them in 2019 against Clemson. The old adage is that if you have two quarterbacks, you really have none. Apparently, Jim Harbaugh and TTUN have never heard that adage.

That’s because they have already decided that they will have two different starting quarterbacks in their first two games. They will start Cade McNamara in the opener and then have J.J. McCarthy start the second game against Hawaii. It’s the most bizarre quarterback setup I’ve ever seen.

I honestly don’t remember a time when this was the plan for a college football team. Kyle McCord started the Akron game last year, but that was because C.J. Stroud needed time to recover from a shoulder injury. Ryan Day didn’t announce that three weeks before the game.

I’m sure this philosophy will work out JUST fine for TTUN. There’s NO way this comes back to haunt them at all throughout the rest of the season. No sir. I see them being able to do this perfectly and certainly not lose some games that they should because they can’t find a rhythm while playing musical quarterback chairs. Nope, definitely won’t happen.

Ohio State doesn’t play these guys until late November so they won’t get to take advantage of this nonsense. Maybe they will still be doing this that deep into the season. You never know with a Harbaugh-coached team these days. This is definitely something to watch from Ohio State’s rivals.
