Most programs would kill for the season that the Ohio State football team had last year. They went 11-2 and won the Rose Bowl, aka the Grandaddy of Them All. Most programs would be thrilled with that result. Ohio State isn’t most programs.

Ohio State expects to be competing for championships every single year. They should win the Big Ten every year, and that’s the bare minimum expectation. There is also an expectation within the program that they should be competing for national championships too.

They didn’t do that last year. They fell woefully short in both of those pursuits. Now, they are trying to exercise those demons and be a better team than they were. They have the talent to do it on both sides of the ball, they just have to execute better as a team.

How do they exercise those demons? They have to have a big game against Notre Dame and against TTUN. Winning the premier non-conference matchup on the schedule is something the Buckeyes failed to do in 2021. Failing to beat their rivals stung even worse.

In order for the Ohio State football team to completely move on from a year ago, they have to beat both of those teams. Beating them will show the rest of the country that they are one of the best teams in the country, if not the best team outright. It will also give them a shot to play in the College Football Playoff.

The first step in getting that redemption comes on September 3rd when the Fighting Irish come into town. All eyes will be on that game around the college football world. It will give the Buckeyes a great chance to make a statement early in the season.
