Ohio State Football’s position in preseason AP Poll revealed
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is going to be on a mission this season. They are looking to be better than they were last season after losing two games in the regular season. Those losses took them out of a chance to make the College Football Playoff and play for a national championship.
We already know what the coaches think of the Buckeyes after they were ranked second in the preseason coaches poll. Today is when the first AP Poll came out. This is the poll that is widely used in games and schedules when determining how good a team is.
In the first AP Poll of the season, the Buckeyes sit at the number two spot in the country, the same ranking as they are in the Coaches Poll. They sit behind Alabama and in front of Georgia. Ohio State received six first-place votes and is the only Big Ten team in the top five.
Clemson is ranked fourth and Notre Dame, Ohio State’s first opponent on the season, sits at five. That means that the showdown in the Shoe will be a top-five matchup, a juicy matchup to start the college football season. The only other Big Ten team in the top ten is TTUN, which sits at 8th.
There are only two other Big Ten teams in the top 25. Michigan State is ranked 15th and Wisconsin is 18th. That means everyone that the Ohio State football team plays this season that is in the top 25 will be faced in Columbus except for Michigan State.
Ohio State starts the season at two. They want to end the season at one. They know what they need to do to reach that ultimate goal, and it starts by beating #5 on September 3rd at 7:30 pm.
