Former Ohio State Football player shines in Hall of Fame Game

The first game of the 2022 NFL season was played last night when the Las Vegas Raiders took on the Jacksonville Jaguars up in Canton. While the game was delayed a half hour because of weather, a former Ohio State football player took advantage of the time he had on the field.

Luke Farrell had himself a really nice night. The former Buckeye tight end is in his second season and is looking to make a bigger impact on the team this year. He had the most productive night of any Jaguar on the field, making 3 catches for 43 yards.

Farrell was taken last year by former Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer in the 5th round of last year’s Draft. After Meyer’s year was a complete dumpster fire, Farrell is looking to have a strong role in a tight end-friendly offense coached by Doug Pederson.

As a rookie, Farrell saw action in 15 of the 17 games that the Jaguars played. He only had 7 catches for 56 yards though. He wasn’t able to make a strong impact on the team. Now that Pederson is there, expect him to get more balls thrown his way.

Farrell was the only former Buckeye to play last night. More will play next week once Week 1 of the preseason officially begins. A lot of former Ohio State football players will get action in the preseason as they ramp up play before the regular season starts in September.

As for Farrell’s Jaguars, they are still a bad football team. But there’s no way that they could be any worse than they were last season with all of the distractions that were following that team. Expect Farrell and the rest of the Jaguars to have a much better time playing football than they did in 2021.
