The Ohio State football team is looking to add to the defensive line.

Another top recruit to look out for is Desmond Umeozulu. He is a four-star edge rusher out of Maryland. He’s currently listed as the 19th-best edge guy in the country and the 3rd-best in the state of Maryland for the 2023 recruiting class.

Umeozulu is another guy that Larry Johnson would be able to develop along the defensive line. He stands at 6’6 and 239 pounds. Even at that big size, he can still get around the edge and get to the quarterback fairly easily. He does a really good job of staying low too.

Besides the Buckeyes, Umeozulu is also considering South Carolina, North Carolina, and Pitt. Of those programs, Ohio State is the one that has by far the biggest track record of success on the field as a program, and developing defensive line talent for the NFL too.

Unlike Downs, Umeozulu won’t be making his decision for a while. He announced on Twitter that he will be making his choice on August 29th, so in just over a month. For what it’s worth, he is projected to choose the Buckeyes when he does make that final decision.

Adding a player like Umeozulu would help the Buckeyes keep some depth on the edge. He could play the “Jack” position sometime in the future as well if they don’t need him on the defensive line. He is a pretty versatile piece.

The last recruit to keep an eye on in the near future is another guy on the edge, but this guy could be the next superstar out there.
