Ohio State Football flips four-star CB from Texas Tech
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program is on a death march right now on the recruiting trail. They are gobbling up top prospects left and right, on both sides of the ball. The Buckeyes have the number one ranked recruiting class for 2023 and will stay that way after landing another great recruit today.
Today, the Buckeyes flipped four-star cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt from Texas Tech. He had de-committed from the Red Raiders just an hour before announcing that he was committing to the Ohio State football program. That gives the Buckeyes yet another recruit in the last two weeks.
Simpson-Hunt stands at 6’0 and 175 pounds and is from Waxahachie, Texas. He is rated as the 22nd-best cornerback in the country. He had been committed to Texas Tech since November, but ultimately decided that Columbus was the place for him instead.
Simpson-Hunt may not be the biggest guy in the secondary, but he’s one of the fastest. He’s a track guy that has top-notch speed to help keep receivers from going deep. He’s someone that can run with the best of them, and he’s more physical than you would think too.
This gives the Buckeyes two cornerback commits in the last week after Kayin Lee committed to Ohio State as well. It’s another win for Ohio State on the recruiting trail as they wrestle with Notre Dame to keep that number one spot in the recruiting rankings.
The secondary is rapidly improving after being suspect for the last couple of seasons. This is the type of recruiting class that can help it get right back on track. Tim Walton and Perry Eliano have done an excellent job of getting these guys to buy into what the program wants to do.
I can’t wait to see these guys step foot on campus next year. It’s going to be a really special class.
