The Ohio State football team has done an excellent job of recruiting quarterbacks ever since RYan Day joined the program. He has recruited Dwayne Haskins, Joe Burrow, Quinn Ewers, C.J. Stroud, and landed Justin Fields in the transfer portal. That’s a pretty darn good track record.

Add another stud quarterback to the list. Day landed the number one quarterback in the class of 2024, and the number one player overall according to 247Sports, has committed to the Buckeyes. They got Dylan Raiola out of Arizona late last night to commit to the program.

Raiola is a five-star kid that has all the makings of a superstar. He stands at 6’3 and 225 pounds so he has good size to him. His arm strength is excellent too. Not only does he have arm strength on normal throws, but on ones where he has to change his arm angle too.

Raiola had offers from all of the major programs, including Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, and USC. He chose the Ohio State football program over all of them. He clearly sees what Day can do to quarterbacks and wants to be the next guy developed by him.

This commitment makes things interesting for the 2023 class. With Kyle McCord likely the starter next year, it would be Devin Brown and Raiola fighting for the starting spot in 2024. The Buckeyes don’t have a quarterback commit yet for the 2023 class but that could change.

It’ll be interesting to see if Day decides he wants a QB in that class or if he just wants to add someone through the transfer portal with Raiola coming in a year later. Those are decisions that will be made down the line though because Raiola still isn’t signed.

Should OSU keep scheduling marquee games?. dark. Next

In the world of NIL, anything could happen until that National Letter of Intent is signed. Ohio State will have to keep recruiting Raiola for a couple of more years. When he does get to campus though, he’s going to be really good.
