The Ohio State football team announced yesterday that running back Marcus Crowley was medically retiring from football due to the number of injuries he had suffered. He was once again poised to miss the upcoming 2022 season because of another injury.

Crowley was incredibly unlucky in his time with the Buckeyes. He just could never catch a break. As a freshman in 2019, he actually played in the most amount of games in his career. He played 7 games in a backup role and showed some real flashes of being something.

During that year, he had 25 carries for 237 yards and a touchdown. He also caught a seven-yard pass for a score as well. His 9.4 yards per carry average mostly came against backups, but it was still impressive nonetheless. It looked like he could compete for the starting job in 2020.

Unfortunately, that’s when the injury bug started to bite. He only played in three games that year and got injured and had to miss the rest of the year. The same thing happened in 2021 and he got hurt during the Buckeyes’ bye week and he missed the rest of the year.

Crowley suffered another significant knee injury this Spring and decided to end his football career because of it. It’s a shame because he really showed some flashes of being a really good running back when he was healthy. He never got to show what he was fully capable of.

He isn’t the only Ohio State football player who will miss the upcoming season due to injury. It’s a bummer that the Buckeyes have already lost two players for the season due to injuries sustained in the Spring. Hopefully, there will be no more serious injuries for this team.
