Ohio State basketball hoping to land Nijel Pack

The Ohio State basketball team has utilized the transfer portal a lot since Chris Holtmann has taken over as head coach. In fact, half the roster was made up of transfers last season. Holtmann views it as an important part of the program’s identity and as making it better.
The Buckeyes are once again using it this offseason. They have already landed Tanner Holden as a stud point guard from the portal. Now they are trying to grab another really good guard from the portal to help replace a backcourt that will be new this season.
Nijel Pack, a guard who is transferring from Kansas State, visited the Ohio State basketball program on Tuesday. Ohio State is one of the schools that Pack is considering transferring to. Pack is an Indianapolis native who played high school there and I got to see him play in high school a few times.
Pack is a quick guard who can shoot and score with the best of them. He did that in high school and has only gotten better at it in college. Pack averaged 17.4 points per game on 45.5% shooting and 48% shooting from three last season while playing for the Wildcats.
Pack is considered one of the top transfers in the portal for this season. In fact, according to 247Sports, he is listed as the third-best transfer player available in the portal at the moment. He would be a real asset for the Buckeyes if they were able to nab him.
I’m not sure if Holtmann is going to be able to bring him to Columbus, but I like that he’s trying. Holtmann knows that this year is going to be a critical one for him and his future with the Buckeyes. If he could add Pack to go along with Holden this offseason, that’d be a heck of a way to use the portal.
