The Ohio State basketball team has to rebuild its roster in the offseason after losing its two best players. Although they might get Malaki Branham back, I would count on it. the recruiting class they have is very good, but they also need to add players through the transfer portal.

I mentioned that Chris Holtmann’s record in the transfer portal hasn’t been very good since he’s been in Columbus. I think he may have gotten his best transfer to date today. They just landed Tanner Holden who will be coming to Ohio State from Wright State.

Holden is a big guard, standing at 6’6. He played three seasons with Wright State before entering the transfer portal. Holden is such a big addition to the Ohio State basketball team because he scored 20.1 points per game last year for Wright State.

His scoring isn’t the only thing that’s impressive. His efficiency with his shooting is also superb. He shot just under 50% from the field last year and shot 34% from three-point land too, but he only attempted one three-pointer a game. That number of attempts will need to jump up.

Holden also averaged 7.1 rebounds a game, which is a lot for a guard. He’s big, so that’s why he was able to grab so many. He won’t dish out many assists, so the Buckeyes will have to look elsewhere for that. But they have someone who can create his own shot, which is important.

In the three biggest games he played in this past season, Holden performed relatively well. He scored 17 points against Purdue early in the season. In the play-in game for the NCAA Tournament, he scored 37 against Bryant. Against Arizona in the next round, he had 12.

Holden isn’t going to be afraid to play Big Ten teams. He’s someone that is fearless and he thinks he can score against anyone. This is a really good addition for the Buckeyes
