The Ohio State football team still doesn’t seem to have an answer for what they are going to do at tight end.

It seems as though Ryan Day is in a bit of a quandary. The Ohio State football team lost Jeremy Ruckert as the primary tight end that took snaps and it looks like they still don’t have an answer on how to replace him a few practices into the Spring period.

Cade Stover is still practicing at linebacker, so the Buckeyes really don’t have anyone who has significant snaps to take over that position. In fact, it may be so dire that Ryan Day takes a look at an offensive lineman to swing out to play tight end at times.

I gotta be honest, that doesn’t sound too promising. Ohio State doesn’t get the tight end involved that much in the passing game anyway, but you would think they’d have someone on the roster who they think could fill that void. I’m out on putting a tackle out there.

Stover may be hoping to get some time at that Leo position, which is essentially a defensive lineman that stands up while the rest are down. Stover may not be quite big enough for that but is certainly athletic enough to move around well. That’s why I think his best position would be tight end.

Next. Ryan Day is leader of men, not just the Ohio State football coach. dark

It’s only three practices into Spring so a lot can change between now and the Fall. I’m hoping that one of those things is the emergence of a true tight end on this roster. Otherwise, the whole offense will suffer as a result.
