The now-former Ohio State football player posted his retirement statement on social media detailing why he is stepping away from football.

During the last Ohio State football season, I had heard rumbles that Harry Miller was struggling with some mental health issues and that was the chief reason why he wasn’t playing. Out of respect for his troubles, I didn’t ask for any further details. Quite frankly, it was none of my business.

Miller has now decided to share his struggles with the world. He has decided to retire from football and put out an incredibly courageous statement on social media detailing all of the reasons why and the struggles he has gone through in recent years.

The former-five star recruit clearly wasn’t in a good place and needed some help. In his statement, he says he told Ryan Day his intention to kill himself. Day immediately helped Miller get the help that he needed, and Miller seems like he’s in a better spot now.

You can read the entirety of the statement Miller put out below.

Miller was going through something that a lot of people in this country go through. It’s not something you can see on the outside, but people all over suffer in silence. Miller was one of those people. Now, he’s sharing his story in hopes that it helps others too.

I commend Miller for sharing his story. It takes an enormous amount of guts and courage to share something so incredibly personal. I’m sure Buckeye fans all over the world will send him good thoughts and wish him nothing but the best. I know I sure will.
