One of the unfortunate things about Kerry Coombs leaving the Ohio State football program is that he is one of the best recruiters in the country. Recruiting was never something that Buckeye fans needed to worry about from him. He had developed a great relationship with A.J. Harris, a top 2023 recruit.

What made matters worse is that Jim Knowles didn’t talk to him for the first few weeks he got the defensive coordinator job. Harris mentioned that Cincinnati was now a top school for him, and the Buckeyes were in danger of losing a top recruit to an in-state school.

Now the Buckeyes are trying to save that relationship. Tim Walton, the new corners coach for Ohio State, is trying to develop a relationship with him. According to Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts.com, Walton is trying to get Harris to still highly consider Ohio State.

Harris is a five-star corner and an in-state kid. There is no reason why the Buckeyes shouldn’t be able to land someone of his caliber considering the track record of success they’ve had developing corners into NFL talents. Walton is just trying to do this better than Coombs.

Harris is in the class of 2023 so he still has quite a long time to make a final decision. You can bet he is going to take a bunch of visits and find out where he fits best. Obviously, I’d love to see him in a Buckeye uniform. The guy has some great skills based on what I’ve seen on tape.

Next. Is this the best we can hope for with OSU bball?. dark

We’ll see what the Ohio State football team is able to do with his recruitment. This could be Walton’s first big test as the new corners coach in Columbus. Adding Harris to the fold would be a heck of a way to start his tenure.
