The Ohio State basketball team had to cancel their game on Saturday against Kentucky due to COVID issues within the program. We told you that they would find out today if their game on Tuesday was going to happen. We now know what the status of that game is.

Unfortunately, it’s not good. The Buckeyes have canceled their second straight game due to their COVID issues. The game against UT-Martin will no longer be played. The fact that they used the word “canceled” indicates that the game will not be made up this season.

This is the world that we live in now. COVID cases are spiking across the country and teams are forced to either cancel or postpone their games across all sports. Ohio State is no different. They are facing the same sort of issues that other teams are.

This comes at a terrible time for the Ohio State basketball program though because they were playing some of the best basketball of anyone in the country. Now they are going to have almost two weeks in between games because of this. There could be some rust involved when they come back.

We’re hoping that this COVID issue is not a long-term problem. It would be a shame for the Buckeyes to miss more games because of something they really can’t control. Chris Holtmann mentioned before the season that the entire team was vaccinated, so these players are likely asymptomatic.

Next. No one is sitting out the Rose Bowl yet. dark

I guess the silver lining with this is that the Buckeyes could end up getting this all over with now so they don’t have to deal with similar problems when NCAA Tournament time in March.
