Football is a game that’s played on emotion. It’s a game that teams frequently use motivation to help them beat their opponents. Motivation is something that won’t be in short supply when the Ohio State football team takes on TTUN next year in the Shoe.

The Buckeyes were motivated after they lost the game this year. They got even more motivation after Josh Gattis said the Buckeyes weren’t a tough team. After the Desmond Howard comments, Ohio State should be overflowing with motivation when they face off next November.

Motivation won’t be enough to beat them alone though. This Ohio State team should have been motivated to win this year after all of the shenanigans that happened last season. And yet, the Buckeyes got smacked around up front and lost the game.

A lot of things can change between now and next November. The Buckeyes have already made one staff change with more surely to follow. But TTUN can also get better offensively. They beat the Buckeyes without arguably their best offensive player in Ronnie Bell.

Motivation won’t be in short supply, but the Buckeyes are going to need more than motivation. This is a rivalry again. TTUN is no longer the doormat that Ohio State walked all over for the last two decades. They finally found the confidence to win and now they believe they can do it every year.

Ryan Day needs to make sure his players understand that. The Buckeyes need to use that motivation in a positive way all year in 2022. They will still have a very good team with a lot of talent on it. The young defense will be more experienced and more ready to play.

Why Ryan Day to the Bears is nonsense. dark. Next

Ohio State football fans can only hope that the motivation gives them the extra push they need to make this year a one-year blip in the rivalry.
