The next coaching change Ohio State Football should focus on
By Ryan Stano
The number one priority for the Ohio State football team after losing to TTUN was for them to get a new defensive coordinator. They did that when they hired Jim Knowles. That seems like it’s going to be a good hire and is someone Ryan Day should get a lot of credit for grabbing.
That was just the first coaching move that needs to be made. The next one that needs to happen should take place on the offensive side of the ball. Everyone saw how badly the Buckeyes got beat on the line of scrimmage against TTUN. So they need to make a change up there.
Greg Studrawa really hasn’t done the job that he’s needed to do in recent years. The Buckeyes have struggled to run the ball in big games and big moments. That shouldn’t happen with all of the talent they have in the backfield and even up front on the offensive line.
Stud needs to move on at this point. Ohio State needs an offensive line coach who will make the line play tougher at the line of scrimmage. With TreVeyon Henderson as the featured back, there’s no reason that he shouldn’t be running for at least 150 yards every game.
Day will likely wait to make a move on Stud for a few weeks. He may have someone in mind before the Rose Bowl, but I’d be surprised if someone was hired before that game. It’d be highly unlikely for two coaches to be brought in before the official end of the season.
I’m not sure who is on the top of their list. I’m not even positive that Day is looking to make a change at that position. What I do know is that letting Stud go somewhere else would be in the best interest of the Ohio State football program at this point.
