It’s official; the best recruit in Ohio State football history won’t be staying with the university. In fact, he ends up only playing one game and taking a total of about 5 snaps. Quinn Ewers has entered his name into the transfer portal, ending his Ohio State football career.

Ewers was supposed to be the quarterback of the future. He was supposed to start right after C.J. Stroud left this season. Instead, he’s going to be headed home for a school in Texas. That’s an absolutely brutal blow for a school still reeling off their first loss to their rivals in a decade.

This has been a very bad week for Ryan Day. He lost two games this season, lost the best recruit in program history, and won’t be playing for a conference title. A lot of talk has been out there about how Day was only good because he had Urban Meyer’s players.

Unfortunately, I think that’s starting to become a little bit true. The defense is in absolute shambles and doesn’t look like it will be fixed any time soon. While the offense was really good for most of this year, they crumbled again in the most important game of the season.

Holding onto Ewers was going to be hard, I said so myself a few days ago. But if you’re Ryan Day, you do whatever you can to hold onto the best recruit in the program’s history. He is a generational talent that will now haunt them at some other program.

Next. Who to root for this weekend. dark

Ohio State might not be playing this weekend, but they are still making headlines. Even if those headlines are not so good for Buckeye fans around the world. It will be interesting to see how Day responds and how this team performs in the bowl game.
