Sevyn Banks had a rough 2020 as one of the starting cornerbacks next to Shaun Wade. He was perhaps the worst defender in a secondary that was much maligned. He was looking for a rebound performance in 2021 so that he could leave early for the NFL Draft.

That didn’t happen at all. He had a very up-and-down 2021 that saw him pulled in and out of the lineup. He started the year not starting and then ended up playing more by the end of the season. Even so, he didn’t end up impacting the game much when he was out there.

Banks only played in four games this season and accumulated 8 tackles. He hasn’t improved like the defensive staff was hoping. It looks like he might have a better opportunity to play elsewhere, especially with Eli Ricks possibly coming in to replace him.

I’d be shocked if Banks actually decided to stay in Columbus. He won’t start ahead of Denzel Burke or Cam Brown. If he plays at all, it would be in a rotation at the slot corner position. Even then he’s likely to get passed up by better, younger players.

It’s best for both Ohio State and Banks from him to move on at this point. The next player on this list though is someone the Buckeyes would very much like to keep. In fact, they might straight-up beg him to come back next season.
