The Ohio State Football team came into Saturday’s matchup against Michigan State looking to make a statement. They were facing the seventh-best team in the country and the winner of the game was going to control their own destiny in terms of CFP selection.

Ohio State took that challenge head on and answered the bell from the moment the ball was kicked. They played an almost flawless game when their starters were in. C.J. Stroud was spectacular and that bled into all aspects of the offense.

Stroud tied the school record of passing touchdowns and did so in a single half. That first half was probably the best half of football this Ohio State Football program has played since the Big Ten Championship Game in 2014 against Wisconsin. That’s how good they were.

Just that first half alone proved that the Buckeyes are true national title contenders. It wasn’t just the offense either that was great. The defense was also fantastic. They shut out Michigan State in the first half and made Kenneth Walker look like a high school player. Walker only had 6 carries for 25 yards.

Perhaps the defense’s performance more than anything else is what makes this team a truly dangerous team. What Matt Barnes has done with this defensive unit since taking over as the primary play caller is amazing. In fact, I’d venture to say that this defense is now legitimately good.

With a good defense and an elite offense, they are going to be an extremely hard team to stop. The next team that gets a chance to try and stop them is TTUN. I’ve said before that TTUN is going to have a tough time against the Buckeyes. Despite their good performance against Maryland, I don’t think anything changes.
