The Ohio State basketball team has their 2021-22 season starting next week. They already played a scrimmage earlier this week. While the coaching staff is definitely getting prepared for that, that doesn’t mean that recruiting stops at any time. We all know that.

Chris Holtmann scored a win today by landing a four-star recruit from the class of 2023. The Buckeyes get George Washington III, a combo guard out of Louisville. Washington III just visited Ohio State last week and decided to make his commitment official today.

Washington III is a guard who has really strong scoring skills. He can get to the rim well as well as make the outside shot. His ability to create a shot off the dribble is what makes him the most special. He is only going to get better at that as well.

One thing he does need to work on is his playmaking. He doesn’t pass the ball as well as you would hope. But he won’t be asked to be the primary ballhandler with the Buckeyes. Holtmann will likely play him at shooting guard once he arrives on campus.

If Washington III can keep developing his outside shot, he could be a dangerous scorer. His athleticism makes him hard to contain off the dribble, so teams play a little off him at the three-point line. In order to keep that from happening, he has to shoot a little better from out there.

Holtmann continues to recruit strongly as his tenure grows longer with the Ohio State basketball team. Now he just needs to put together some postseason success with all the talent he’s accumulated from that great recruiting.
