The Ohio State football team has been beating up on a lot of inferior opponents lately. Their schedule hasn’t been the strongest so far. In fact, they’ve only played one ranked team, and that was the loss to Oregon in the second week of the season.

Penn State is a little bit of a different animal. Although they are no longer ranked in the top ten, they are still ranked 20th in the country. This is a win that would still look good on the Buckeyes’ resume and it would signal to the rest of the country that they are for real.

Beating a team like Penn State by a lot of points doesn’t just send a message to the rest of the conference, but it sends one to everyone nationally. It sends a message that everyone needs to be paying attention to this team or risk getting beaten by them.

We do know now that the Nittany Lions are likely the fourth-best team in the Big Ten East. The fact that they are still ranked 20th tells you how good of a division this is. Ohio State should not apologize for beating a team like this, even if they are better on paper.

This game isn’t on paper though. This is one of those games that the players have been waiting for. They have been waiting to show how good they are on both sides of the ball on a national stage in a night game. That’s the opportunity that they have this Saturday night.

I would expect this team to come out with a lot of emotion early. I don’t think the emotion will be out of control though. Ryan Day will have his team dialed in and ready to go from the moment this game kicks off. It might be a little close early, but I bet Ohio State pulls away late.
