The Ohio State football team is the sixth-ranked team in the country right now. They only have one loss on their record and have a chance to really stack up some quality wins with the rest of the schedule they have. Simply put, it’s all out in front of them.

As long as the Buckeyes go undefeated and win the rest of their games, they should find themselves in the CFP. They still play #7 Penn State, #10 Michigan State, and #8 Michigan in the regular season. They will also likely play #2 Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game.

Winning all of those games will give the Buckeyes the firepower that they need to win the conference and be one of the four representatives in the CFP. The only teams they have to worry about in front of them are Georgia, Cinncinati, and Oklahoma.

Alabama already has a loss. Losing to Georgia in the SEC title takes them out for good. Oregon doesn’t have any quality win chances left on their schedule, but another loss for them wouldn’t hurt. Even so, the Big Ten is the best conference in the country.

With it being the best conference in the country, as long as the Ohio State football team wins the conference, they will get in the CFP. That may be at the expense of an undefeated Cincinnati team, but we can debate whether or not that is fair some other time.

Next. Ryan Day's nightmare. dark

As long as Ryan Day can keep his team focused the rest of the way, there’s no reason this team can’t round into a true national title contender by the time the season ends. They just have to keep doing what they’re doing right now, which is still much easier said than done.
