The Ohio State football team played the best game they have played all season long after beating down Maryland 66-17. It was a game that the Buckeyes controlled from the get-go and they were never truly threatened. They were able to move the ball at will and played very well on defense too.
Ryan Day decided to keep the first-team offense out on the field later than a lot of people thought he would. C.J. Stroud played well into the third quarter of this game, as did the rest of the starters. I think there is actually a good reason for this that some people may have forgotten.
There was an incident a couple of years ago back in 2019 when Chase Young was on an absolute tear with the Buckeyes. Young was a Heisman finalist that season and set a school record in sacks for a single season with a whopping 16.5 sacks.
He could have gotten even more if the NCAA wouldn’t have suspended young for two games in that season due to receiving a loan that he ultimately paid back. He missed games against Maryland and Rutgers because of the suspension.
There were rumors that Maryland head coach Mike Locksley was the person who snitched about Young’s loan. He snitched on him so that Young wouldn’t have to play against the Terrapins in 2019. That made Ryan Day and the rest of the team very mad.
The Buckeyes weren’t able to get revenge on Maryland last season because of the game being canceled due to COVID. Day got his revenge yesterday. He really put it to Locksley and the rest of the Terrapins by having Stroud sling it all over the field all game long.
This is the type of revenge that I approve of. The team was focused and motivated to get revenge for that incident, and that’s exactly what they did. If this is any indication of what Day does when he wants to get revenge, TTUN should be very worried.
The Ohio State football team just keeps getting better and better as the year goes on.
